As the U.S. Coast Guard’s Director of Technology Readiness and Chief Data and AI Officer, Mr. Campo leads the service's technological transformation to ensure mission excellence in a complex digital age.  He is responsible for developing and implementing enterprise-wide strategies for ensuring digital readiness across systems, aligning technology investments with Coast Guard enterprise architecture, improving cybersecurity readiness, and harnessing the power of Data and Artificial Intelligence to create a decisive operational advantage.  He joined the USCG in 2022 as the Deputy Chief Information Officer after serving as the Chief Technology Officer for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) serving DHS since 2018.

Across his roles with USCG, Mr. Campo has been responsible for the development, management, and sustainment of technology solutions in support of USCG’s 11 statutory missions. This includes executive delivery of capability, strategic guidance, governance, and implementation for IT, Data, and AI programs. His Directorate accelerates program delivery across the full engineering lifecycle by forging strategic partnerships with cutting edge technology providers, strategic industry engagements, and cross-government functions with federal agencies. Utilizing a management approach that embraces the challenges of technology transition, disruptive technology, and digital transformation to lead change that enhances mission outcomes.   Consistently embracing a collaborative approach that aligns mission needs with technology delivery, optimizing the Coast Guard's vital role in providing critical services across the Maritime Domain and protecting the homeland.

Prior to joining DHS, Mr. Campo spent 20+ years in IT leadership positions throughout the Public and Private Sector supporting Commercial, Department of Defense, and Federal stakeholders.  Consistently focused on applying IT and Data services to improve operational and business outcomes, he has executed modernization of major programs that reimagine how critical services are delivered every day.  As an executive, Mr. Campo excels at driving strategic alignment of governance, policy, and delivery to create better stakeholder outcomes.

Mr. Campo is a native of York, Pennsylvania. He previously served on active duty as a naval nuclear engineer in the Navy’s submarine force, graduating from the Naval Nuclear Power School in mechanical engineering and as a federal civilian with the US Navy. He holds DAWIA certifications in program management, systems engineering, and Information Technology from the Defense Acquisition University. He has completed many Data and IT certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Agile Certified Professional, and ICAgile certified professional.
