Master Chief Frank G. Tatu, Jr. assumed the duties as the Command Master Chief for Coast Guard Cyber Command on May 28, 2024. As the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, he serves as the principal advisor to the CGCYBER Commander on all cyber related missions impacting the CG workforce matters and policies. Prior to his current assignment, Master Chief Tatu served as the Command Master Chief for Coast Guard Fifth District Mid Atlantic region. 

Master Chief Tatu previous assignments include, Command Master Chief TRACEN Petaluma, Command Master Chief Sector Ohio Valley in Louisville, Kentucky; Command Senior Chief and Engineer Petty Officer, USCG Maritime Safety Security Team (MSST) Miami 91114 in Miami, Florida; USCG Sector Baltimore and Engineer Petty Officer USCG Station Curtis Bay both in Baltimore, Maryland; USCGC KATHERINE WALKER (WLM 552) in Bayonne, New Jersey; USCGC CAMPBELL (WMEC 909) in New Bedford, Massachusetts & Kittery, Maine; USCG Station Kings Point in Kings Point, New York; USCG Station IMARV in Fort Totten Queens, New York, and; USCG Station New London in New London, Connecticut.  

Master Chief Tatu earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social and Criminal Justice from Ashford University in 2014 and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from University of Charleston in 2020. A graduate of Chief Academy class 165, Senior Enlisted Leadership Course Class 51, Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy Class 24, and National Defense University’s Keystone Class 24-1. 

Master Chief Tatu’s awards include the Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medal, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals all with the operational distinguishing device, Department of Transportation September 11th Medal and numerous other personal and service awards.  Master Chief Tatu earned the permanent Cutterman and Advanced Boat Forces Operations insignias.  

Master Chief Tatu has been an on-scene first responder to World Trade Center in NYC, Miricle on the Hudson US Airway Flight 1549 Plane crush, Hurricane Maria Key West, Francis Scott Key Bridge Response. 

Master Chief Tatu is married and proud father of three adult daughters.
