History:

Vinces was a three-masted 93-foot British auxiliary schooner that was seized as a rum-runner in March of 1927 by the cutter Mascoutin some 15 miles from the South Carolina shoreline.  A lengthy court battle ensued and she was taken into Coast Guard service on 23 July 1931 at the Coast Guard Depot in Curtis Bay, Maryland.
