Tender History:

The schooner Belle Stevens was built in 1861 and was purchased by the Lighthouse Board and named simply Belle.  She was stationed in the 11th Lighthouse District.  She also transported materials for the construction of Spectacle Reef Light.

While serving as an engineering tender, she ran aground on 10 November 1873, sustaining serious damage.  She was sold on 10 July 1874.

She was the last sailing tender to operate on the Great Lakes.
