Damage Controlman Third Class Nathan Bruckenthal, USCG
Damage Controlman 3c Nathan Bruckenthal was the first Coast Guard member killed in action since the Vietnam War. He was killed on 24 April 2004 from injuries sustained during an attack on Iraqi oil platforms by suicide bombers. Bruckenthal and his team from USS FIREBOLT were defending the terminal.
